Here is a quick ALDS Game 2 recap, but I’d like to do a more in depth article about Gerritt Cole and his incredible performance. So keep an eye out for that, but in the meantime, here are some quick game notes:
- Blake Snell pitched incredibly well. It surprised a lot of people when he was pulled in the fourth after a home run by Bregman. Blake’s pitch count was already around 60 pitches, which is more than he’s pitched in his last three starts since coming off the IL in September.
- Meadows had some great at-bats against Cole. Even though the results weren’t great for Meadows, he made Cole pitch and was able to get multiple foul balls off of him. He is due for a big hit this series.
- Choi’s athleticism was really on display this game. He made some great plays at first, including the diving catch on a line drive below:
- Astros’ fans were upset because a ball that would’ve scored two runs ended up hitting the ball boy’s stool next to the left field foul line. The ball was hit so far the ball boy wouldn’t have had enough time to snag it. Regardless, the stool is an authorized object on field of play so it couldn’t be challenged.
Rays fell to the Astros 3-1 in Game 2. Hopefully they can avoid getting swept and extend the series. Stay tuned for a full recap of game 3!
